<img src='http://www.simplysoldstore.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/europe.jpg' alt='Europe' / align=right>If you asked me five years ago if I thought we’d be running a business that ships to over 80 countries across the world from a small retail storefront in Romeoville, I would have said you’re crazy. Here we are after nearly four years in business and we’ve done it. We add a new country to our shipping list every once in a while and sometimes we’ve never even heard of the place before. So, we decided to finally buy a big wall map of the world and mark the countries. It’s a very cool visual. Next time you’re in the store, feel free to ask and we’ll show it off.

Most importantly though, it’s a reminder to us that we can reach the entire world with your products. Think about this for a minute. You can either try a garage sale, classified ad, or selling to your buddy at work, but the real questions is “what would happen if you were to reach the right sized market full of people eagerly and actively searching for your product?” We sold a large collection of Lego toy sets recently and of 20+ sets, only one stayed in the US. Many went for several hundred dollars. What would have happened if we didn’t reach those buyers?

There are some eBay sellers who don’t sell worldwide because they’re afraid of the risk, customs forms, language barriers, etc. Sure, those things can be hassles sometimes, but in the end we’re here to figure out how to get the best value for you and this is just one way we feel we can make the difference for you. Thanks for letting us help you!

While I’m at it, here’s some trivia for you:

Several of the Lego sets went to Macau (it’s just off the southern coast of China.

Ever watch the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch? Yea, we’ve shipped to Dutch Harbor.

The Artic Circle? Sure. We just shipped a Chanel brooch to Kotezbue, Alaska.

Our daughters were especially excited about the country below.

<img src='http://www.simplysoldstore.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/67melodymakerd.jpg' alt='1967 Gibson Melody Maker D Guitar' / align=right>In a recent post to this blog, I mentioned that things show up at our store in waves. It happened again. Last week a customer came into the store with a guitar and while she was here, another showed up at the same time! What a coincidence.

One of these two guitars was purchased at a garage sale a few years ago for $50. The buyer put about $50 in parts into it, played it, and decided to sell it.

Once we checked in the guitar, we took over and started doing what we do to get the best value. We were able to date the guitar as a 1967 Gibson. But we needed more information to make sure we had the right model. We contacted Gibson directly and worked with them to determine that it was a 1967 Gibson Melody Maker D in the Pelham Blue finish. As usual, we took lots of fantastic pictures, described it well, and did our research to make sure we had the right day and category. After launching the auction, we answered bidder’s questions and ended up having one of the most highly watched items on eBay during that week.

All that legwork equalled another successful sale and the guitar is now on it’s way to the United Kingdom.

Got a guitar that you’re thinking of selling and want to make sure it’s done right? Bring it in and we’ll be glad to help you.
